On Nov. 4, 1979, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, Iran, taking 66 American hostages. Amid the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge with the Canadian ambassador. Knowing that it's just a matter of time before the refugees are found and likely executed, the U.S. government calls on extractor Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) to rescue them. Mendez's plan is to pose as a Hollywood producer scouting locations in Iran and train the refugees to act as his "film" crew.

This truly is a phenomenal movie! I did my research and knew it had a lot of profanity so I arranged to watch in on a ClearPlay device which allows filters for certain content, including profanity.

We filtered out the f-bomb and ended up loving this movie. The story is compelling and engaging. The acting is incredible and the cast does a stellar job. Seriously, the profanity is what causes this movie to be mature. So if you are a person who is cautious about profanity and can find a way to filter it out, I'd recommend seeing this one.

Yes, it is one of the years best. Not a story of countries at conflict, but of individual choices of courage. We find ourselves asking: How far would we go to save another's persons life? The question of humanity, of "being our brother's keeper", of laying our life down for another. Personal decisions at crucial moments. I am sorry to say, there is foul language, which is sad, for it will prevent many people from seeing this truly great story in our nation's history.

There is no nudity in the film and the violence depicted is along the lines of what you would see in the news when they show angry mobs. However, though profanity does not usually bother me in movies, I found the profanity in Argo to be particularly crass and offensive even though it is not pervasive.

Movie-wise, Argo is well done, well paced, and fun to watch. That said, while it is based on historical events, it is not entirely factual. Some facts are tossed aside in an effort to streamline the movie, others to make things a bit more exciting, and a couple of others could be called 'perspective' facts ... as in, how you see it depends on your philosophical/political point of view.

All in all, I'd say Argo is worth a viewing, but caution viewers to also take a few minutes to research the actual events so they can discern Hollywood from fact and we don't think of fiction as history.

If "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town" weren't enough, "Argo" proves that Ben Affleck has matured into one of Hollywood's most talented and interesting filmmakers. The story of the CIA's attempt to rescue six Americans from Iran using a fake sci-fi movie, Affleck's latest is a brainy political thriller that doesn't skimp on the thrills. What's more, it sheds light on an overlooked part of history that's still very much relevant today. Aside from some strong language and the overall intensity of the film (which is, thankfully, lightened up quite a bit thanks to some well-placed humor), "Argo" is a fairly mild R--nothing in the way of gratuitous violence or sex.

Wow, this is definitely one of the BEST films this year, hands down. Avengers made billions, Argo will win Oscars. The moment I saw the opening credits roll, beginning with the Warner Bros logo from the early 1980s - I knew this was going to be the awesome film I was hoping it would be based on the trailers I had seen. The entire film is so well researched and put together, never stepping outside of 1979-81 in any way: fashion, technology, TV News, etc. The film in its entirety could pass as a film made right after this occurred, say in 1982 or 1983, not 30 years later - the film looks that great and was so well researched to achieve that. The film has everything a great film should - a full range of emotions. It has some extremely funny moments and some very tense ones. There were multiple occasions when you could hear the audience take a breath after we had all been holding it during a tense moment. For me, the experience of this film was heightened for the fact that these events took place several years before I was born and did not know the outcome of these events. This film was very well cast with very talented actors. The resemblance of well known and not-so-well known actors to their real-life counterparts was uncannily accurate. My only complaint with the film was the language. Had the language been scaled back, this film would have passed with a PG-13 and many people would go see it. Although, I know that isn't Ben Affleck's style. I do have to admit, many of the f-bombs came off as pretty hilarious, especially in regards to a joke about the title of the film. None of the f-bombs are used in a crude manner and the little violence in the film never goes beyond PG-13 violence. I can't wait to see this film again!

I finally watched this movie and it was fantastic! Completely worth your time.

There is swearing, but I found it not to be overbearing or detrimental to the message of the movie.

Although artistic license was taken in the storyline it was well done. Just don't expect a historical/accurate portrayal of this incident.

Affleck's best acting since Voyage of the Mimi! And if you know what I'm talking about, you know this is a compliment.

A good movie all around. I have given this a rating of 16+ as I think the concepts would be suitable that age however I think they may just be bored. The story behind it is pretty intense and the settings bleak with not much comic relief and as you can imagine is quite political. It is a well executed movie and those with a political penchant would find this interesting. Its definitely not a 'light watch'.
